Student Earns Pro-Life Award

Student Earns Pro-Life Award

Mary Barnes

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Pro-Life youth award is given annually by the Archdiocese to a high school student who demonstrates excellent  leadership qualities and promotes the dignity and sanctity of life in parish, school, Archdiocesan and community life. The winner of this year’s prestigious award is BCHS junior, Grace Lundy.
Grace Lundy has been apart of Chatard’s Pro-Life club for three years now, and is also the head of Go M.A.D., a service club. Along with being apart of these clubs, Lundy has reached beyond just her school community, and has helped with her surrounding Indianapolis  community as well.
Lundy and her mom, Anne Lundy, are apart of the Indianapolis  St. Gabriel’s projects, which helps mothers who have decided to keep their babies but are struggling to support them. For Christmas last year the Lundys brought a mother of four a decorated Christmas tree and presents and spent the afternoon with the kids. This is an example of one of the ways in which she goes beyond just her school services.

In regards to Pro-Life, Lundy believes that all life not just infants should be respected. After learning of her award, Lundy responded that, ” I was so surprised to receive this award. I’m being honored for doing what I love; treating everyone with the dignity of life that God gave them.”
She will be receiving the award on Sunday October 4th, during the Annual Respect for Life Mass at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
