IUPUI professor visits anatomy classes

Emma Kinghorn

Professor Michael Yard, Human Anatomy Course Director and Senior Lecturer at IUPUI, met with Honors Anatomy and interested students Friday, March 18 to speak about his research and work with forensics on crime scenes. He brought donated body parts, preserved with silicone, to show the students and give them an opportunity to see a human brain up close. Hannah Miller, junior, found this educational, “seeing all the parts of the body and bones he had, in person, was really cool.”

In addition to body parts, students were also able to view autopsy videos and learn how to calculate time of death, “It was really interesting,” added Miller, “the graphs and processes let you learn how to calculate it by hand.”
