On March 4th, Bishop Chatard chemistry students went to Brebeuf Jesuit High School to take the American Chemical Society Exam. There were two exams administered, a first year exam for underclassmen and a second year exam for AP chemistry students. The tests were given to determine qualifiers for the International Chemistry Olympiad. Mr. Dan McNally’s honors and AP chemistry students were offered extra credit for taking the exams, and there was a large BCHS turnout.

Of the Trojans attending, senior Thomas Hirschfeld earned the highest score. McNally’s Room 103 houses a plaque that recognizes the highest BCHS score each year.

“I also got the highest score sophomore year, so now my name is on the plaque twice which is cool,” said Hirschfeld.

Honors chemistry students taking the first year exam placed fourth in the state for average score. This past weekend Hirschfeld and McNally went to University of Indianapolis to accept the awards.
