The Scholastic Awards are a competition that awards students in grades 7-12 nationally for their “creative achievements,” according to their website. Out of 350,000 different pieces, 13 BCHS students from AP Art Studio and Advanced Photography won awards for their work.

The Gold Key award is the highest acknowledgment, and senior Kahlen Roney was awarded the only Gold Key between the 13 students. “Actually, coming as a surprise to me, I am quite ecstatic on the matter,” Roney said.

The list of winners and their pieces can be found in this gallery.
