Sophomore Lauren Sokol proves that hard work really does pay off when she earned a place in the summer intensive program for The Joffrey Ballet School in Chicago and for The Rockettes in NYC.

Sokol has been dancing since she was 4 years old and typically practices 12-15 hours each week depending on whether she has extra practices or not. Her hard work and dedication has been recognized by the two prestigious organizations. She said, “I honestly am so blessed to get to do something I appreciate so much.”

In order to get these types of offers, she went to Chicago and auditioned with many other talented groups of dancers. “It was very intimidating, but I got through it,” said Sokol. However, for the Rockettes, she had to choreograph tap and jazz dances over Christmas break as well as submit an audition video for them to judge.

Sokol has accepted both offers and will be gone for about five weeks this summer.

“I was thrilled when I found out,” said Sokol.
