Last weekend five students represented BCHS in a statewide Spanish competition, El Concurso Académico. The competition, at Zionsville Community High School, was sponsored by American Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Each Trojan placed in the top five for various events according to their respective Spanish level. Each contest had approximately 25 or more students. Their accomplishments at this event include:
Emma Kennedy, junior – 5th place for paired non-stop conversation (advanced level Spanish)
Sam Klineman, junior – 5th place for paired non-stop conversation and 4th place for impromptu speaking (adv. level)
Sian Rhodes, senior – 3rd place for scrambled sentences and 5th place for impromptu speaking (adv. level)
Nic Napier, freshman- 1st place for vocabulary, 1st place for grammar, 2nd place for scrambled sentences (level 1)
Joslyn Wims, freshman-1st place for scrambled sentences, 3rd place for grammar, 3rd place for vocabulary (level 1)
Napier and Wims earned the Spanish Level 1 State Trophy for this competition.
