As students hit the stride of the third quarter, one big to-do for underclassmen is signing up for next year’s courses. BCHS has introduced six new class offerings including Honors Latin II, Intro to Computer Science II, Genres in Literature, Theater Production, Dramatic Literature and Student Publications: Media.
Some classes have to be cut to make room in teacher schedules for the numerous new ones. Among the classes disappearing next year are dual credit class L202, Culinary Arts and AP Microeconomics. “I had absolutely zero cooking experience, so Culinary Arts gave me skills that will last a lifetime,” said junior Sam Klineman, “I wish other students could have the same opportunity.”
“We added Intro to Computer Science II because we know that many students will enter this career field, and we want to give them more insight,” said counselor Mrs. Catherine Welch.
Honors Latin II was added due to the increase in students taking Latin. Genres in Literature balances out as an honors class for seniors who wanted to get the dual credit GPA boost in L202. Theater Production is a unique class that allows students to produce a play over the course of the semester. It is a good taste of theater for students who may not have time to be completely involved in a production.
Classes are due to the PowerSchool Class Registration on Monday, February 13.
